About the Role
The People & Culture Lead is the senior human resources leader for the organization and the head of the people function. This is a department lead role, responsible for leading HR staff, partnering with supervisors and clinical leaders, and owning the design and execution of workforce strategies.
This role goes beyond transactional HR. You will build and improve employee lifecycle practices, lead recruitment efforts, strengthen performance management and discipline processes, and foster an engaged, professional, and accountable workplace culture across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
People Leadership & HR Strategy
- Lead the HR function and provide day-to-day leadership to staff
- Partner with ownership and department supervisors to align people practices with organizational goals
- Take ownership of key people related initiatives and strategic mandates, designing solutions and driving implementation
Employee Lifecycle Management
- Develop and continuously improve end-to-end employee lifecycle processes (recruitment, onboarding, development, performance, and exit)
- Ensure consistent, professional employee experiences across the organization
Recruitment & Workforce Support
- Lead recruitment for administrative, technical, and clinical roles
- Design and manage effective hiring processes, including screening, interviews, selection support, and offers
- Advise ownership on workforce planning and talent needs
HR Policy & Infrastructure
- Assess gaps and design, implement, and maintain HR policies, templates, and systems
- Maintain an up-to-date employee handbook and policy framework aligned with Alberta legislation
- Ensure appropriate HR documentation, records management, and compliance
Collaborate with external legal counsel to develop standard contract templates
Performance Management & Employee Relations
- Lead performance management processes, including goal setting frameworks, review cycles, and documentation standards
- Coach and support supervisors on performance issues, investigations, and progressive discipline
- Handle complex employee relations matters with professionalism and sound judgment
Culture, Engagement, & Safety
- Foster an exceptional workplace culture grounded in respect, accountability, and high performance
- Lead employee engagement and retention initiatives
- Oversee health and safety programs and compliance
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $105,000 – $135,000, based on experience
- Bonus: Performance-based incentive

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR)
- 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including employee relations and performance management
- Demonstrated experience developing HR policies and scalable HR infrastructure
- Proven leadership experience
Preferred
- Experience in healthcare or other regulated professional environments
- Experience implementing or improving HR systems (HRIS, performance frameworks, etc.)
